A class for your group, in your space

IMPACT Safety brings self-defense to congregations, neighborhood and parent groups, campus and youth groups, and groups of friends: awareness, voice, boundaries and simple physical skills. You choose a class or a talk, and we come to you.

A group of women raise their arms together outdoors, smiling.

What you can book

  • A private 4-hour class. Pick either 4-hour public class and we adapt it to your group. I Just Want to Hit Something is mostly physical: simple strikes on pads, plus ways to stay steady. Introduction to Self-Defense for Trauma Survivors is mostly about staying calm under stress and setting boundaries with words, with a little physical practice.
  • A talk or panel, 60 to 90 minutes, with one presenter.
  • A shorter taster, about 90 minutes.

Who: only your group and two IMPACT trainers. Up to 25 people per class. Classes are for adults; teens aged 16 and 17 may take part with a parent or guardian's consent.

Physical level: you set your own pace. You stand, move, use your voice and strike hand-held pads. Kicks from the floor are optional. Seated participation is fine.

No padded, suited instructor in these short classes. You strike pads, never a person.

Choice: class opens with group agreements, including confidentiality. You can sit out any drill or step out, no reason needed. Trainers ask before any touch. No one has to share a personal story.

Wear: clothes you can move in and closed-toe shoes.

Space: a fellowship hall or large room with open floor. We bring the pads.

Who teaches

Two IMPACT trainers teach every class. IMPACT Safety has taught in central Ohio since 1993, and our instructors come up through a mentored training and certification pathway. Women instructors on request.
